Peru to expand healthcare system: US focusing on pool of opportunities
Peru will invest USD 2.6 billion over the next two years in order to reform and expand the healthcare system. The huge expansion would include a number of infrastructure projects to upgrade and equip hospitals and healthcare centers with provisions of new medical devices, blood banks and telemedicine systems. According to the US Deputy Commerce Secretary Bruce Andrews, the US is interested to help Peru meet its healthcare requirements, which will also help in economic growth, creating new jobs and increasing prosperity for people in both the US and Peru. At the same time, Peru’s expanding healthcare services would be a huge opportunity for the US medical device suppliers, US pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and US healthcare IT service providers.
