Medical devices’ exports growth from Costa Rica opens opportunities for local manufacturers

Healthy 23% growth in exports of medical equipment creates opportunities for Costa Rican companies. Medical products worth over USD 2 billion were exported between January and November 2015, as compared to USD 1.6 billion in the same period of 2014. In the last five years, purchase of goods and services nationwide grew at an annual average rate of 16%. There were over 96 multinational medtech players in Costa Rica employing around 20,000 professionals by 2014-end. MNCs have created chances for local players, as they have found an ally in multinationals to sell their products.
