Latin American nations focus on primary healthcare

On the occasion of First International Meeting of experiences in primary health care held in the central Bolivian city of Cochabamba, representatives of Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela have announced that primary health care is the priority interest policy for them. The Vice Health Minister of Ecuador mentioned that the meeting also agreed to foster health promotion and prevention of diseases in those nations, under the principles of social justice and service quality and warmth. A pact has also been considered for equal distribution of responsibilities and improvement of management of resources in the health sector. The meeting also resulted in an agreement to implement social determination as a principle in health, intercultural approach and traditional ancestral and bio-medical complementary medicine in health care systems of each state.
