Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia among major markets for liposuction procedures

According to a report published by Technavio, the global liposuction market is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 8% by 2020. The number of individuals opting for various types of cosmetic surgeries has been increasing over the past few years. In 2014, total 1,372,901 liposuction surgeries were conducted worldwide, constituting 14.8% of the total cosmetic surgery procedures. This rise in the number of people looking for liposuction treatment would drive the market over the forecast period. Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Germany, South Korea, France, Japan, India, China, Iran, and the US are the major markets for liposuction procedures. The US has represented significant growth over 1997-2014. The key factors behind the rise in the number of people opting for liposuction surgeries include quality results provided by energy-based techniques as the majority of them are painless and non-invasive, thereby reducing the chances of side effects. Patient satisfaction is also an important criteria achieved by significantly reducing pain, swelling, reducing the time of the procedure and hospital stay, and ultimately providing the desired shape to the body of patients. The major players of this market are Alma Lasers, Cynosure, Erchonia, Genesis Biosystems, and Valeant Pharmaceuticals.
