GE Healthcare completes purchase of GEMEDCO Sales & Service to serve Colombian market directly

 

GE Healthcare has completed the acquisition of GEMEDCO Sales & Service SAS, a subsidiary of General Medical Colombia (GEMEDCO SA). GEMEDCO was formerly serving as an authorized distributor of GE healthcare in Colombia for the sale of its diagnostic imaging, ultrasound devices and contrast media. The firm was providing technical services as well. With the approval of local regulatory authorities, GE has now completed the acquisition and has started direct operations in Colombia to firm up their relationships with local clients through the provision of direct services. GEMEDCO SA will continue to operate and sell branded medical equipment of other companies. According to a company spokesperson, the decision of acquisition is a result of growing economy of the country, rising demands in the local healthcare sector and company’s vision to serve customers directly.
