Abbott and GE Healthcare have teamed up to accelerate the diagnosis process for atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders. As per the agreement, the integration of GE’s Cardio Lab electrophysiology recording system with Abbott’s RhythmView mapping software will assist physicians pinpoint the sources of atrial fibrillation. The integrated system will provide patient-specific diagnosis instead of the prevailing one-size-fits-all anatomical approach. According to the GE experts, “using the existing potential of GE’s CardioLab to collect and send data to the RhythmView System, physicians have a comprehensive device to distinguish the source of heart rhythm disorders instantly, help improve end results and increase patient gratification”.
