Brazil: New compulsory expansion for healthcare plans may lead to higher costs for beneficiaries

The Managed Care Brazilian Association (Abramge) says that after the incorporation of 21 new procedures under compulsory health coverage plans, the expansion can create financial instability for companies and lead to higher costs for beneficiaries. The effect of new compulsory expansion can only be estimated in June 2017 when companies will implement the costs to customers. The impact may endear the beneficiaries’ access to health plans to meet the new costs generated by inclusion of new procedures. National Federation of Health Insurance guides associated organizations to comply completely with the rules of the National Health Agency (ANS).
