Brazilian Ministry of Health to empower university hospitals with allocation of BRL 87 million
The Brazilian Ministry of Health has decided to allocate BRL 87 million to 49 teaching hospitals across the country in order to expand and reform the healthcare services delivery. The allocation will benefit 35 municipalities of 23 states. The fund is allocated under the National Program for Restructuring of Federal University Hospitals (REHUF), in partnership with the Ministry of Education. The fund will be distributed based on each hospital’s indicators and performance targets. Brazilian Health Minister Marcelo Castro said the fund is allocated to empower hospitals to fulfill the ministry’s commitment to qualify and increasingly expand the service bandwidth. The ministry allocated over BRL 2.3 billion to university hospitals across the nation over 2010-2014. In 2015, BRL 111 million has been allocated for university hospitals and The health ministry has also announced the allocation of incentives worth BRL 1.1 billion for these establishments.
