Health Ministry launches blood transfusion monitoring system in Brazil

Hemovida web system, Transfudion module, a blood transfusion monitoring system developed by Datasus, the IT department of the health ministry of Brazil has been launched by the health ministry of Brazil in the United health system hospitals. The system will be used to gather data on a number of Brazilian patients suffering from blood diseases. The new system can be used for 1,700 hematology and hemotherapy services. In 2014, more than 3 million people used blood transfusion services in Brazil. The Brazilian health ministry has spent about USD 15 million in buying and research and development of devices to improve blood transfusion since 2004. By 2016, Brazil will spend more than USD 6.6 billion in hematology and hemotherapy research.
