Hospital de Cancer de Barretos (HCB) in Brazil has inked a long-term agreement with Varian Medical Systems. As per the agreement, HCB will purchase four new radiotherapy treatment systems: TrueBeam, Trilogy, Clinac, and UNIQUE comprising the complete range of Varian’s technology offerings. These devices will be installed in the hospital within two years. The hospital will also update its pool of Varian software, which involves Eclipse and Brachy Vision for treatment planning and ARIA for collecting oncology information. Apart from that, Varian in collaboration with HCB plans to set up a clinical school to educate healthcare professionals from Brazil and other nations in Latin America regarding the advanced use of radiotherapy for cancer treatment. The clinical school will be equipped with a VERT virtual simulation and training system, which will enable doctors, physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists to learn and practice planning and providing a complete range of therapy techniques.
