Mexico\u2019s health department has come up with a program \u2018Hearing Screening at birth\u2019 for timely diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss. The initiative is expected to surely add value to the quality of life for new born with hearing issues. By increasing the diagnosis rate, the numbers of procedures of placing cochlear implants are expected to double i.e. from four to eight operations per month. 59 children enrolled under the program have been benefited. Infants having profound hearing loss are fitted with a device, which help them recover hearing, since the first two years of life are important for diagnosis and recovering of hearing function.
