In order to meet the ambitions of J&amp;J\u2019s medical device business unit, it has opened its arms to embrace collaboration and innovation with startups and academics. According to the business unit head, \u201cJ&amp;J wants to be the partner of choice for companies big and small that are interested in bringing excellent solutions to patients and to healthcare systems around the world\u201d. J&amp;J is targeting to create &#8220;bidirectional&#8221; partnerships, such as its robotic surgery collaboration with Google.
