It features\nthe difference in both value and quantity in terms of equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/chile-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg\" alt=\"State of the Medical Device Market in Chile\" class=\"wp-image-12205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/chile-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg 736w, https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/chile-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For 2018-2019, we forecast that 4 medical <a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/ghi-analysis\/state-of-the-medical-device-market-in-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"device (opens in a new tab)\">device<\/a>\/equipment categories will have drops in <strong><em>quantities<\/em><\/strong> in Chile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>47% decrease in the importation of electrocardiograph machines<\/li><li>31% decrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><li>22% decrease in the importation of MRI machines<\/li><li>19% decrease in the importation of<a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/news\/latin-american-portable-x-ray-devices-market-poised-to-reach-usd-427-million-by-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" X-ray machines (opens in a new tab)\"> X-ray machines<\/a> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\nsaid, there were some bright spots in the quantities imported into the country,\nwhich we cover further below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\nwhen analyzed together, we forecast a <strong><em>37% decrease<\/em><\/strong> in the\nquantities of medical devices\/equipment imported into Chile in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nalso observed drops in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of medical equipment imported\ninto Chile in 2018-2019 in several key categories, specifically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>71% decrease in the importation of radiography\/radiotherapy equipment<\/li><li>21% decrease in the importation of electrocardiographs <\/li><li>15% decrease in the importation of ultrasound machines<\/li><li>9% decrease in the importation of pacemakers<\/li><li>7% decrease in the importation of equipment for orthopedics\/fracture treatment<\/li><li>1% decrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite\nthese significant decreases, overall, we expect to see a<strong><em> 4% increase<\/em><\/strong>\nin the value of imported medical devices and equipment into Chile in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2018-2019\nIncreases in the Chilean Medical Devices\/Equipment Market<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Along\nwith the downturns, a number of equipment categories posted increases. First,\nthere was an encouraging jump in <strong><em>quantities<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>80%\nincrease in the importation quantities of computed tomography machines\/parts<\/li><li>33%\nincrease in the importation quantities of pacemakers <\/li><li>14%\nincrease in the importation of artificial joints<\/li><li>9%\nincrease in the importation of equipment\/parts for orthopedics\/fracture\ntreatment<\/li><li>2%\nincrease in the importation quantities of ultrasound machines\/parts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition, we forecast an increase in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of certain medical\ndevices\/equipment imported into Chile during the 2018-2019 period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>83%\nincrease in the importation value of MRI equipment\/parts<\/li><li>39%\nincrease in the importation value of computed tomography machines\/parts<\/li><li>24%\nincrease in the importation value of artificial joints <\/li><li>17%\nincrease in the importation value of X-ray machines\/parts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Interpreting\nthe Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although\nChile did not suffer the currency devaluations and economic crises that\naffected its neighbors, its economy generally only had modest growth during\n2014-2019, and the issue of income inequality came to the forefront with the\nturbulent protests at the end of 2019 \u2014 and into 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nsuch, it\u2019s no surprise that its medical device\/equipment market posted a blend\nof positive and negative numbers during that period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nCAGR of 4% <strong><em>increase in value<\/em><\/strong> between 2014-2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nCAGR of 5% <strong><em>decrease in quantities<\/em><\/strong> between 2014-2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s\nthe picture of the past 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\ngeneral, in 2018-2019 what we\u2019re seeing with Chile is generalized margin\ncompression in which the average value drops by 2%, with the exceptions of MRI\nmachines and artificial joints. In the case of MRIs, the lack of compression\ncould be due to the sale of a few new large machines. The overall value\nincrease of 4% seems to be driven by MRI equipment and electrocardiographs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uncovering\nOpportunities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With\na market like Chile posting these mixed results, it becomes ever more important\nfor medical device and equipment manufacturers to be analytical in finding new\nopportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While\nexisting contacts and prospecting are important, sales teams need to leverage\nmore tools, such
