It features\nthe difference in both value and quantity in terms of equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ecuador-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg\" alt=\"State of the Medical Device Market in Ecuador\" class=\"wp-image-12190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ecuador-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg 736w, https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ecuador-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For\n2018-2019, we forecast that only 2 medical device\/equipment categories will\nhave drops in <strong><em>quantities<\/em><\/strong> in Ecuador:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>17%\ndecrease in the importation of electrocardiograph machines <\/li><li>10%\ndecrease in the importation of artificial joints<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In\ncontrast, there were many more increases in the quantities imported into the\ncountry, which we cover further below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nsuch, overall, we forecast a <strong><em>15% increase<\/em><\/strong> in the quantities of\nmedical devices\/equipment imported into Ecuador in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nalso observed drops in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of medical equipment imported\ninto Ecuador in 2018-2019 in just 3 categories, specifically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>25% decrease in the importation of <a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/news\/south-american-open-system-mri-market-likely-to-grow-at-a-cagr-of-8-3-to-reach-usd-106-million-by-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"MRI machines (opens in a new tab)\">MRI machines<\/a><\/li><li>8% decrease in the importation of electrocardiographs <\/li><li>4% decrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nsuch, overall, we expect to see a<strong><em> 23% increase<\/em><\/strong> in the value of\nimported medical devices and equipment into Ecuador in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2018-2019\nIncreases in the Ecuadorian Medical Devices\/Equipment Market<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nsignificant number of equipment categories posted increases in Ecuador in 2019.\nFirst, there was significant jump in quantities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>154%\nincrease in the importation of radiography\/radiotherapy machines\/parts <\/li><li>59%\nincrease in the importation of computed tomography machines\/parts<\/li><li>39%\nincrease in the importation of ultrasound machines\/parts<\/li><li>31%\nincrease in pacemakers<\/li><li>29%\nincrease in the importation of MRI machines\/parts<\/li><li>22%\nincrease in the importation of X-ray machines\/parts <\/li><li>16%\nincrease in the importation of machines used in orthopedics to treat fractures<\/li><li>1%\nincrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition, we forecast an increase in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of certain medical\ndevices\/equipment imported into Ecuador during the 2018-2019 period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>113% increase in the importation value of X-ray machines\/parts<\/li><li>58% increase in the importation value of computed tomography machines\/parts<\/li><li>46% increase in the importation value of radiography\/radiotherapy equipment<\/li><li>22% increase in the importation value of ultrasound machines\/parts<\/li><li>17% increase in the importation value of pacemakers<\/li><li>10% increase in the importation value of artificial joints<\/li><li>5% increase in the importation value of equipment\/parts for orthopedics\/fracture treatment<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Interpreting\nthe Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ecuador\u2019s\neconomy had a solid performance in 2014, with 3.8% growth, but since then it\u2019s\nbeen challenging: a 1.2% drop in 2016, just 1.4% growth in 2018, a contraction\nof .3% in 2019 and tiny growth, if any, forecast for 2020 and beyond. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,\nthese challenges don\u2019t seem to be reflected in the medical device\/equipment\nmarket. In 2014-2019, when it comes to medical devices\/equipment in Ecuador, we\nobserved: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A\nCAGR of 8.9% increase in quantities<\/li><li>A\nCAGR of 3.8% increase in value<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s\nthe big picture for the last few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n2018-2019, what we\u2019re seeing with Ecuador is generalized margin compression in\nwhich the average value drops by 9%. The exception to this is X-ray equipment,\nwhich seems to offset these drops with a boost in units sold. Overall, there is\nmarket growth in both value and volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uncovering\nOpportunities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Given\nthat Ecuador had some significant growth while also generalized market\ncompression, it becomes ever more important for medical device and equipment\nmanufacturers to be analytical in finding new
