It features\nthe difference in both value and quantity in terms of equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/peru-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg\" alt=\"State of the Medical Device Market in Peru\" class=\"wp-image-12171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/peru-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01.jpg 736w, https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/peru-2019-import-summary-for-medical-devices-en-01-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For 2018-2019, we forecast that 7 medical device\/equipment categories will have drops in <strong><em>quantities<\/em><\/strong> in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/ghi-analysis\/25-key-health-facts-about-peru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Peru (opens in a new tab)\">Peru<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>74%\ndecrease in the importation of radiography\/radiotherapy machines <\/li><li>33%\ndecrease in the importation of artificial joints<\/li><li>28%\ndecrease in the importation of ultrasound machines<\/li><li>27%\ndecrease in the importation of computed tomography machines<\/li><li>18%\ndecrease in the importation of MRI machines<\/li><li>6%\ndecrease in the importation of electrocardiograph machines <\/li><li>2%\ndecrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nspite of these drops, there were some bright spots in the quantities imported\ninto the country, which we cover further below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, overall, we forecast a <strong><em>9% increase<\/em><\/strong> in the quantities of medical devices\/equipment imported into <a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/ghi-analysis\/peru-hospitals-fact-sheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Peru (opens in a new tab)\">Peru<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nalso observed drops in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of medical equipment imported\ninto Peru in 2018-2019 in several key categories, specifically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>33% decrease in the importation of heart valves<\/li><li>24% decrease in the importation of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealthintelligence.com\/pt-br\/ghi-analysis\/the-most-in-demand-medical-equipment-for-latin-american-hospitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"MRI machines (opens in a new tab)\">MRI machines<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li>24% decrease in the importation of artificial joints<\/li><li>10% decrease in the importation of ultrasound machines<\/li><li>1% decrease in the importation of electrocardiographs <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite\nthese decreases, overall, we expect to see a<strong><em> 1% increase<\/em><\/strong> in the\nvalue of imported medical devices and equipment into Peru in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2018-2019\nIncreases in the Peruvian Medical Devices\/Equipment Market<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Along\nwith the downturns, some equipment categories posted increases. First, there was\nmild jump in <strong><em>quantities<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>101%\nincrease in the importation quantities of pacemakers <\/li><li>15%\nincrease in the importation of equipment\/parts for X-ray machines\/parts<\/li><li>13%\nincrease in the importation of equipment\/parts for orthopedics\/fracture\ntreatment<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition, we forecast an increase in the <strong><em>value<\/em><\/strong> of certain medical\ndevices\/equipment imported into Peru during the 2018-2019 period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>62% increase in the importation value of radiography\/radiotherapy equipment<\/li><li>49% increase in the importation value of X-ray machines\/parts<\/li><li>20% increase in the importation value of pacemakers<\/li><li>13% increase in the importation value of equipment\/parts for orthopedics\/fracture treatment<\/li><li>11% increase in the importation value of computed tomography machines\/parts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Interpreting\nthe Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Peru\ngenerally had solid growth in GDP from 2014-2019, the so-called \u201clost half\ndecade\u201d in Latin America: +2.39% in 2014, +3.27% in 2015, +4.05% in 2016,\n+2.47% in 2017, +3.99% in 2018 and +2.3% in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some\nof this growth seems to have been reflected in the medical device\/equipment\nmarket. In 2014-2019, when it comes to medical devices\/equipment in Peru, we\nobserved: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A\nCAGR of 21% increase in quantities<\/li><li>A\nCAGR of 1% increase in value<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s\nthe big picture of the last few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n2018-2019, what we\u2019re seeing with Peru is generalized margin compression in\nwhich the average value drops by 3%. The exceptions to this are imaging\nequipment, particularly CT scanners, X-ray machines and\nradiography\/radiotherapy equipment. We also observed overall market growth: a\n9% increase in quantities and a 1% increase in value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uncovering\nOpportunities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Given\nthat Peru has some growth while also generalized margin compression, it becomes\never more important for medical device and equipment manufacturers to be\nanalytical in finding new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While\nexisting contacts and prospecting are important, sales teams need to leverage\nmore
