Mexico is the largest exporter of medical devices in region: COFEPRIS

At a meeting held in Mexico recently, Federal Commissioner Julio Sanchez met with the representatives from Business Alliance, which includes entrepreneurs from Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Peru. Sanchez emphasized the significance of medical device industry. He stated that Mexico is the largest exporter of medical devices in the region, with a production of over 15.22 million medical devices, generating over 130,000 jobs. The industry plays an important role in strengthening the potential of the country as an exporter of medical technologies. Representatives of the medical devices industries are working to strengthen ties among nations to potentiate opportunities in the sector and ensure access to the best health technologies for patients. The aim is that by Pacific Alliance, a regulatory framework is established in such a way that markets of all the group nations can be unified, to facilitate the exchange of commercials and enhance the production of medical devices. The meeting brought together representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (COMSALUD, Peru), the National Association of Colombia, Scientific Medical Device Industry (SCDM Chile), the Mexican Association of Innovative Medical Device Industries (AMID Mexico) and the National Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry (CANIFARMA Mexico), with the coordination of the Council Mexican Business Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE).
