Medical equipment export to Brazil – a growing opportunity for U.S., Japan and EU Medtech Firms

Brazil claims itself as the largest medical equipment market in Latin America while medical devices imported from the US account for 30% of the total imported products. Brazil is also a fast-growing market for home healthcare products and Brazilian companies manufacturing home healthcare products are playing a major role in the reduction of hospitalization costs. The public sector of Brazil also offers home treatment services as part of their strategy to cut hospitalization costs. Although the major part of the expanses is covered by private insurance companies, the public sector has also increased its investment. US medical equipment firms see home healthcare devices and services as a rapidly growing market in Brazil. Business opportunities are present globally in diagnostic equipment, medical infrastructure, healthcare services, wellness, telemedicine, and other markets. The United States, Japan and Europe are traditional and mature medtech markets but still exploit a majority of healthcare opportunities. Brazil, China and India are among the developing markets with growing opportunities.
