Costa Rica to host largest Latin American Life Sciences industry event

Costa Rica will host for the third time the largest Latin American life sciences field event -The Life Sciences Forum 2016 – organized by the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE). In all, 350 international and national participants are expected to gather at the event to analyze key trends in the life sciences industry. Participants will also explore Costa Rica’s potential in the sector with the greatest strategic positioning in recent years, as it is the second largest medical device exporter in Latin America and has attracted 47 medical devices technology projects over a five-year period and ranks 7th globally in terms of the number of manufacturing projects, ahead of the Netherlands, Brazil and Mexico, over 2008-2012. The event will include presentations in areas such asdevice innovations, 3D printing and the future of medical manufacturing, innovative materials in medical devices, opportunities for clinical investigations in Latin America and the future of the life sciences sector presented by speakers and prestigious specialists from universities in Europe, the United States and representatives from the key companies of life sciences sector globally. With annual exports over USD 2 billion dollars, medical devices as the country’s main industrial export product and over 19,000 employees working for the sector, the goal of this event is to collaborate in the global market analysis of the medical industry and Costa Rica’s potential to play a key role in the industry.
