Boston Scientific to buy American Medical Systems urology portfolio from Endo International Plc

Boston Scientific has agreed to acquire the American Medical Systems (AMS) urology portfolio from Endo International plc for an initial consideration of USD1.6 billion and milestone payments worth USD50 million based on the 2016 sales. The transaction shall integrate AMS Men’s Health and Prostate Health businesses into Boston Scientific’s Urology and Women’s Health segment, and is expected to close in Q3 2015. Pelvic organ prolapse and female stress urinary incontinence from AMS’ women’s health segment is not included in the deal. Boston Scientific has estimated about USD1 billion worth annual sales for its urology portfolio after the transaction, which complements its long-term growth strategy.
